Seamus Heaney, uno de los poetas más reconocidos del mundo y ganador del Premio Nobel de Literatura en 1995, falleció a los 74 años, informó la prensa local.

Heaney, aclamado como el poeta irlandés más destacado desde William Yeats, publicó su primer poemario en 1966 ('Death of a Naturalist') y firmó diversas obras teatrales, como 'The Cure at Troy' (1990) y 'The Burial at Thebes' (2004).

El irlandés, que fue catedrático de Poesía en la universidad inglesa de Oxford, había sido diagnosticado recientemente de una enfermedad grave, según la BBC.
